This is just a comment and you guys probably don't care, I've been on a neverending quest for a quieter PC w/out water cooling. My computer used to be so loud that I could hear it from my room on teh other side of my house, now I can barely hear it from the doorway across the room. I have a OCZ Modstream, which has a 120mm fan and is pretty much inaudible, Zalman CNPS7000B AlCu on lowest setting, and 2 120mm Antec Tricool fans on their lowest setting. Now the only thing that is holding me back is the GPU fan which is 2-3 times louder than everything else. But what really makes me sad is that I can now hear my harddrive when its reading/writing :(

tried using an artic cooling vga fan?

i turn off all my fans and my computer barely gets any more quiet. 3 hard drives make a lot of noise, even if they are all seagates. i need to isolate them.

Artic Cooler is your friend, at least for fixing your video card.
You might even be able to run a passive zalman heatsink on it....

I have a Seasonic Super Silencer 460 stock.
On my A64 3200 I have a Thermalright XP-90 with a Panaflo L1A 80mm.
My two intake/exhaust fans are 2 92mm Acoustifans undervolted.
My hard drive cage is suspended with bungee cord (I'm working on getting a way to get another Panaflo blowing on them).
My GeForce 6800 is cooled with an NV Silencer 5 undervolted.

My case is pretty damn quiet. It used to be virtually silent (no noise above ambient except HD seeks) when I had a 9600XT. Now that I have a 6800, options are more limited. Still... it's almost unnoticeable except at night, when it's tolerable.

I did this because I use my computer as my main source for my headphone rig. I have a somewhat expensive set-up (soundcard -> headphone amp -> headphones) and I wanted it quiet because the noise always intrudes and I didn't want to raise up the volume to overcome the PC noise, especially since it occurs only at a certain range of frequencies. Plus, if it's close to silent, it's more like a real headphone rip (with an actual CD/SACD/DVD-A player). That and noise bothers me.
