Hey All,
I am trying to make my PC quieter. Its sort of quiet but not as quiet.

First I am trying to figure out where in the hell is this noise coming from. Maybe i didnt try hard enough, i was just trying to put my ear close but all the fans are close by so cant really. You guys have any idea what could be the cause. Also, when I boot up my computer its wayy louder than after an hour of use or something.
Heres the info:
I have a X-Dreamer case (Turbo case) with claer side panel with fan. And another fan on the top. Pretty good idea that these are not causing noise.
I have a Antec 350 W PSU with couple of fans, one on the bottom and one in the back side.
Abit IS7 Motherboard with a fan. My guess is this is causingat least some problem.
Intel 2.4b p4 cpu overclocked to around 2.9ghz with stoc heatsink and fan.
Radeon 9600 pro graphics card, with a fan on the card.
So anything jumps out??

My rear panel is pretty empty, so I was thinking of getting one of those big fans (not sure wht that standard size is). I dont have much cooling issues. but i havent been playing games lately. I will be a lot this summer though.
So should I even add a fan, heard it makes a lot of difference, and what kind should i get? Looking for something really quiet.

Thanks

I would try unplugging fans or stopping them with your finger to isolate. You can do this for all except the PSU fan. Obviously you won't want to run the comp with all of them stopped, but as long as the heatsink is fastened properly, you're not going to nuke anything.

I found the fan on my Ti4200 to be annoying as well as the NB fan on my IS7. I went passive on the NB and the Ti4200 got a bracket w/a case fan next to it after the stock fan was removed.

2 things stand out, abit boards have noisy fans sometimes (my NF2 did, so did another abit board I had a while ago, a kt266a board I think) and that 350 watt antec is a smartpower, they use sleeve fans I think and I know my 350 watt smartpower is much louder then either truepower or enermax I have.

Something else to consider, side and top fans disrupt the ideal atx airflow pattern more then they help it. You can stand to loose those fans without your cooling capacity suffering.
