Hi guys!

I just received my P1.6A, Alpha PAL8942T, and a quiet Panaflo 24CFM fan. Would I be able to OC this to at least a 133FSB? It'll be going on a ABIT TH7-II MB with 2*256MB Samsung RDRAM (16 banks).

I'm going for silence and speed when in fact, it seems like it must be one or the other.
And one other note, is it true that there's a BIOS that'll let me run my AGP and PCI at whatever speed I desire? This would make it possible to keep my computer silent yet still get some OC out of it.

You should be able to, but nothing in life is garanteed. Also, you probably can do it with the stock heatsink/fan.
 
I hope you're right.

The reason why I got the Alpha and Panaflo was to get the quiestest computer possible. That's my first priority, but I would still like to see 2+GHz..🙂

Good news my friend! I too have a P4 1.6A and an Alpha PAL8942T. I went with an ADDA 80mm fan that pushes around 32CFM at 28dBA, but still, it's reasonably quiet. I have two Panaflo L1A case fans, which are virtually silent. I've OC'd my rig to 2.13GHz, and my temps are around 34C idle and 45C full load (torture test in Prime95). This is with my vCore set at 1.55 (seems that 1.5 just wasn't quite enough @ 2.13). The ADDA is set to suck, and my exhaust fan (Panaflo) is in a plastic enclosure which hangs about 1.5 inches above the ADDA, resulting in a very nice flow of air out of the system. This enclosure came with my case, a Directron Skyhawk Eagle Aluminum ATX4379 case. Wasn't very useful in my AMD setup, but works great with the P4 and Alpha HSF. As for the OC'ing BIOS, I haven't seen anything on it. If you do find out about it, please let me know, as that would perhaps allow me to take my rig up some more (had problems with going beyond 138FSB due to PCI, I believe).

P.S. After getting the Alpha PAL8942T, I realized my case didn't have holes to match the ones in my Asus Mobo (p4b266) for installing the Alpha. I had to drill the holes in my case to accomodate the HSF. You might want to check that out before you get ready to install your pc in your case.

I'll be using my old Inwin case so most likely, it seems that I might have to make a few mods to it. 28dBA isn't loud at all... probably what my Enermax PSU puts out which I find to be rather quiet. So if my Panaflo is too weak, the ADDA might do the job with negligable penatly to noise. And those temps look VERY promising!

I'll see what more I can find on BIOS' that lets you lock in PCI and AGP freqs.

Since the Alpha is designed to suck air out, maybe I should do what you did with the ducts to pull that air out of the case more efficiently...
 
I'm at 2133 and 1.6v right now with the stock HSF...temps seem good and it's very stable. Most do seem to hit 133fsb pretty easily, although some (like mine) need a little bit of a "push" in the right direction.
