Quiet LGA1155 cooler for i7 OC

I have a Sandy bridge i7 2600K and I'm finding the air cooler to be reasonably noisy.

I'm looking for the quietest, sub £45 air cooler available. If you can find it on this site OverclockersUK, or ebay or amazon, I can get it.

@EDIT:
I plan to overclock my i7 to 4.5Ghz, without getting it warmer than 60 degrees.
I have a case with 2x80mm intake fans in front and 1x80mm exhaust at the back. This is the case: http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=7
The case fans are already considerably loud, but I intend on getting a quiet CPU cooler anyway for when I get a better cooled case with 120mm fans.
I think it can fit a ~14cm high fan in the case. Width might be slightly restricted by ram but I think most coolers would do it fine.

Thanks

Do you plan on OCing? What cooler are you currently using? Case restrictions/What case? If it is the stock one that thing is not too good and is pretty loud for its basic/poor level of cooling. Maybe easier to get a cooler w/o a fan and add or replace (if already has a fan) with a quieter one. Keep in mind the smaller the fan the louder.

The Cooler Master 212 Evo is a good unit and cheap. You could replace the fan with a quieter 120mm (the stock fan at full load is not that quiet, but is better than the stock intel screamer). It is one the more widely used "budget" coolers and for good reason.

Noctua NH-U12P SE2 comes w/2 quiet 120mm fans and is one of the quieter coolers. It is £57. Depending on your cooling needs (or even case fitment) you could put the 2nd 120mm as a case fan.

Scythe Mugen 3 (300-1600 RPM, PWM controlled)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scythe-Muge...1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1335287019&sr=1-2

I have Mugen 2 running at 700RPM on idle, it's very quiet. At 300RPM, the same fan would be inaudible.

EDIT: also, Thermalright HR-02 will make no noise if you run it without the fan. It's capable even like that. But the fan is by no means loud, if you intend to use it for overclocking. http://www.amazon.co.uk/THERMALRIGH...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1335287134&sr=1-1

OP I recently got a Nzxt Havik 140 for $40 and it's great. It's extremely quiet and is one of the top air coolers available.

My i7 2600K is running pretty hot, Idle=37 degrees, Prime95 SmallFFTs @ 4Ghz = 90 degrees after 2 minutes. Maybe I should check the thermal paste again, but I'm still looking for a quieter cooler.

The Nzxt Havik 140 looks tempting, although a bit over budget. Please, could you do me a favour and measure how big it is (cm)? 😀

If you just want quietness, Havik isn't worth it. Sure, it's quiet, but so are Hyper 612 and Mugen 3 which I recommended earlier, and they're cheaper.

I'm leaning towards this now: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-CS&tool=3
despite everything else, just because of the price. Any other ideas?

That fan operates at 1600RPM. It's pretty loud. You would need to downvolt the fan to 5V or 7V (~650RPM or 900RPM, respectively) to quiet it down.

The local scan store doesn't have the Mugen 3, and I can get the Hyper 612S for €12 more than the A50. Is it worth the price difference?
I think it definitely is. The heatsink is bigger and the fan is quieter without the need for manual downvolting (which would basically require you to buy a cable or a fan controller).

I think you mean £ and not € though 😛

I'm going to overclock it though. Up till 4.5Ghz.Will it keep temps below 60 degrees? The intel stock cooler hits 95 degrees at 4.5 right now.

Whoa. You're overvolting with the stock cooler? Jeebus, that's probably why it's so damn loud!

I'm quite sure the 612S at 900RPM would cool a 4.5GHz 2600K adequately. The heatsink is just so big and with many heatpipes, it shouldn't be a problem when a 212+ that's half the weight can do it.

Heres the 612S cooling an i7-920 at 4.0GHz , keeping it at 63 degrees with the fan at 930RPM: http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/cooler_master_hyper_612s_cpu_cooler_review,12.html
