Quiet keyboard

Hi Guys,

I have a Dell keyboard and it say on the descrition "quiet keyboard". I don't know what's so quiet about since it make the same amount of noise to me. This is why I am here asking for your help. You are the consumer and you know and have tried most keyboard on the market.

Plain and simple, I need a quiet keyboard. I would spend the extra $ for the illuminating one too (so I can play games at night with speaker off). I don't need to hear the keyboard to know that I am pressing the key.

Requirement:
1 - Very, extremely quiet keyboard. (I believe the only quietest keyboard is made out of rubber)

Features would like but don't need to have:
1 - Illuminate
2 - Windows button (U know the one with the Win logo on)
3 - Any extra hot keys.

Try one of those old keyboards. There hard to find but work great and are very tactile. I love the compaq keyboard I found cleaning out the office in an audit, and it was given to me. Doesnt have the windows button, but I never use it any way. They are ALOT quieter than any MS, logitech, or hp keyboard. IBM is only one close to its quietness.

I cleaned out my house last year.. it's all gone now. lol

But I been thinking about taking out each key and see if I can fix it so it won't make so much noise.

I found one but the price was a killing. $300 or so for the keyboard. That's crazy.

Thanks though.

Not a bad idea, maybe a little soft foam ring at the bottom of each key, or a pad under all of them, maybe even a dynamat like material (probably something cheaper, but you know what I mean, that semi-firm foam.

Or you can just spill mountain dew into the keyboard. That'll soften those keys right up, seems to work for my Users.

I'd get one of those flat illuminated keyboards. they are not expensive, and dead silent (no moving parts - just the rubbery key)

O really? Link?

If you want the most silent of all, there is this product called the "Virtual Keyboard" which projects the imaged of a keyboard onto your desk and you type onto that. It's like $100 but I am really tempted to get one, hehe.

Ok, I ordered that foldable keyboard and got it 2 days ago.

It's HORRRIIIIBBBLLLLLLEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot imagine something so horrible and they accually sale it.

1) The keys R stand up just like normal keyboard but it can move to the side when press. The motion of the key should only be veritcle, but this one will give U horrizontal also. For me, the longer I type the more chance I can press the key next to it.

2) The enter key, wow it's all the way on the right. I have to extend my pinky very far to reach it. And it's just as hard to press it as any other key if not harder.

3) Standard keyboard it dipped in the middle and the edgest goes up a little, this keyboard dips on the side and go up in the middle.

4) The worst is the space bar. It's not long like standard keyboard. Too short and u have to press very hard for it to work. So theresult is some words without space.

5) Only USB. If you put in the adaptor for PS2, the PC won't reconize it.

I had to plug back the old keyboard. My next idea is "COVER" maybe that will elliminate some noise. 😀

Anyone want this keyboard, I'll sale it back for half price. $10 + shipping fee. It's as light as a UPS box.

seriously, try my idea. Pry up all the keys on your keyboard, Put down a felt pad and cut holes in it fo fit.
