Quiet HSF?

I recently put together my new Athlon 1.4 system with a Volcano 6cu+ heatsink/fan. However, that fan is much more noisy than I'd like it to be. I'm not sure if the fan is defective or if it is supposed to be that noisy, but it sounds like a hairdryer. What are some more quiet HSF solutions? I'm not planning to overclock, as right now I'm willing to sacrifice that extra speed for a more silent system.

Thanks

I'd recommend a ThermalRight SK-6 with a Panaflo 80mm fan. You'll have to rotate the fan 45 degrees, so the corners are sticking out, but its very quiet and does a good job of cooling.

Thanks. Would swapping to a Panaflo on the Volcano heatsink be a viable option? Would it even be possible?

Actually, some tests have shown that the SK-6 is not efficient with a low CFM fan. It's great with a high CFM setup though.

The current favorite is the Alpha PAL 8045 with an extra quiet fan like the Panaflo L1A.

Does anyone know how well the Sanyo 60mm fan works on the SK6? I saw that inflowdirect.com will bundle one of those with the SK6 for a pretty good price. Also, does anyone know about the Zalman CNPS-3100G?

Thanks again

Does anyone have an opinion/experience with pairing the PAL8045 with the Silencer 80mm from PCP&C? Quality wise, how does the Silencer compare to the Panaflo?
