I'm looking for an ultra quiet PC case that isn't too expensive. I was thinknig about buying the Antec Sonata, but wasn't sure if the 380W PSU would be able to handle all of my components.

The basics of my new computer are an AMD Athlon 64 3500+, a socket 939 motherboard(not sure on this,) 1GB PC3200 DDR400 RAM, hopefully an ATI Radeon X800XT when the prices go down, 120GB 7200 RPM hard drive, Dell Ultrasharp 2001FP 20.1" LCD, some type of DVD/CD burner.

go with the antec sonata. it's 380W psu is more then enough. a quality 240W psu can handle more then what you've got. :) just a side note: people are way too power hungry nowadays. just because new and more power psu's come out, people think they really need a new psu. well...that goes for intel users really. the P4's run hot and use up a LOT more juice then amd procs. :)

for real? i'm about to build a computer soon w/ similiar build (a64 3000+, 1gb ram, 5-6 hdds/cd/dvd, gf6600gt), and i thought the min power requirement would be around 400W ish. does that mean i could support it w/ a 350W Enermax Whisper series PSU, which i bought 2+ years ago?

yes, ur 350W enermax can easily handle that system. then they stated the requirement would be 400W, they were talking about the generic psu's. a quality 240W psu is better then most generic 400W. for example, the pc power and cooling 510W psu outputs up to 600W, which is wow. but ya, many people have been able to run even a 6800 ultra on a quality 350W psu easily, though they "recomend a 480W psu.

as for quiet cases, the sonata is about as quiet as it gets for that price (which is one of the quietest cases out anyways). antec also has cheaper quiet cases name the bqe, standing for black quiet edition.
