Quiet GTX 260s

Are there any GTX 260 models that are particularly quiet? I know most use the default cooler but some have custom cooling (like the Asus Matrix which is apparently loud).

Over clocked and quiet would be nice 🙂

Cheers

you have to have it be a GTX260? im a quiet freak and right now my personal favorite is the Vapor-X cooler from sapphire as far as stock quiet coolers go. soon as i close a deal on my old thermaltake armor case and my evga nf47 SLI motherboard, and a friend from work gets next weeks paycheck, im picking up an HD4870 1GB Vapor-X myself. should be faster than the GTX260 and it's only $150 on newegg right now. i got to test one of them out a few weeks ago and i was amazed at how quiet it was, even with the fan running at 100%, and with it that high the temperatures were comparable to what i would expect of high end CPU cooling. apparently it's like having a heatpipe cooler covering the entire card, with a means of transferring the heat off of it to match.

The Sapphire would be great but It will take them a month to get me a Vapor X (I'm in Beijing). The 260 just has to give me a playable experience in Aion/Mass Effect for a few months. Once the Dx 11 cards are out I'll be looking at my options

lmao fair enough. i was going to chuck the 4870 in my other computer which only has a 1680x1050 res 22 inch monitor and get a good $300ish card when the DX11 cards from at least 2 camps are out (nv, intel, AMD), but if i want to do that, im on a budget until then, selling off old parts to buy new ones lol. i have enough old hardware listed on craigslist right now to build a whole new system if it all sells, tons of $20-50 parts like $300-400 worth. i got a 1920x1200 monitor a month and a half after my 9800GTX, which i got used for a TRUE from a friend, and the 512mb Vram just isnt cutting it anymore vs fallout 3 or oblivion, and while i was able to scale the graphics back in crysis and farcry 2 to be playable again, it just isnt quite as stunning as it was before lol.

I'm only running 1680*1050 so the GTX 260 should be ok for a while. I think the card I am getting has 896mb vram. I hope that is enough. I haven't played Oblivion yet but one day...

I run at that res with a GTX 260 and it screams in Oblivion (and everything else).

I bought a Leadtek Extreme + GTX 260. So far it runs everthing thing fine and it is quieter than the GT 9600 it replaced. I am very happy
