Quiet, fast hard drives

Yeah NSF4, that is why I had to get new drives. Cuz the only fan I have/need in my case now is on my Intel stock heatsink, so my two hard drives were making a high pitched noise that got to me while I slept. I just got in the Barracuda today, and will install it tonight. I can't wait to see how things go. I still however need to get a master drive, seeing the Barracuda is to replace my Maxtor 80 gb one for storage. I was going to go with a Maxtor D740x for the master drive cuz John said they were uber quiet when they aren't seeking, but I saw somebody else post in the For Sale forum that they are so loud and he wants to get rid of them, so I am on the fence at the moment about thinking what to do.

for the Seagate Barracuda IV and Maxtor fluid bearings drives.. how much of a difference does the 8MB vs. 2MB buffer make? anyone know of a good review of this?

how's the Barracuda V working for you? i have the same HD you had and it's damned loud. i'm thinking of replacing it with the Barracuda V if it's really noticable.
