Quiet DVD burner?

Why are computer manufacturer's such as HP's and Dell's optical drives so quiet...every single optical drive i have bought does not compare...maybe i dont know how to shop, but is the NEC 3550 quiet? Can you recommend me a quiet DVD burner
 
I've never noted HP or Dell's drives to be especially quiet. If they are though, it's probably just because they're forcing them to run at a lower speed.

I think youre correct, i think i remember it took me like 5 mins to burn a full CDR...but i sprung for the NEC at newegg, they had it for 35.99 shipped.
