Quiet CPU Cooler

I have an Aria case and the stock HSF on my 1800+ is annoying me. I bought a Zalman 7000 but it was too wide. I'm hoping somebody can help me out and point out a quiet cooler to replace my stock cooler. My motherboard is a cheap Machspeed V2DP. Please help me, can't stand the noise anymore!

Doncha just love these people that recommend cooling solutions that cost more than some mobos or CPUs (that's $40. + a fan + shipping)... 😉 Besides which I don't think the clearance in the Aria (height) will allow the Alpha anyway. Have you ever actually measured the clearance you have? That would be a useful bit of info for us to have.
. OTOH, if you think the Alpha would fit, then this (at about 2.75") would do you just as well:
Spire WisperRock IV or similar, and you'd have some $$$s left to have some Mickey D's. If not, then look at the Thermal integration V77L, but you would have to get a Zalman Fanmate or such to control the feisty fan...

.bh.

Kensai:
I bought a Zalman 7000B AlCu, the height was fine. It barely cleared the PS but the diameter of it was too big to be centered on the chip. I'd prefer not to cut off fins to make it fit.

Zepper:
I'll measure the height when i get home to get an exact measurement but its pretty close to the height of the Zalman, 62mm.

why not?

Hmm... I've gotten the 7000 to fit in situations where there is a 7mm discrepancy.

It's definitely worth a shot I think, especially if your purchase is non-refundable/exchangeable, or if you are going to get shafted with a restocking fee.

I won't get stuck with the 7000 since I have a Sonata, 754 3200+ w/ stock cooler, that could use it. I'll take some measurements to get a better idea of what my options are.
