Quiet Cases

HI
My pc is 6 years old. And,,, THE NOISE LEVEL IS VERY HIGH!!!
I want to replace the entire system and my first thought is to start with a good case and power supply. I am not a gamer and don't overclock. I'm more concerned about running a stable and quiet system. I'm not sure what brand cpu I want to use other then I want speeds around 2400 mhz. Definitely will be a dual core. About 2 years ago I got a Antec Super Lanboy case. Can that be made into a quiet case? I hesitate to use it beacuse of is made of aluminum and feels weak. I'll keep the case on the floor and have 2 very active grandkids who like to climb and sit on my present case. My Case
The pc is will be located in the living room and left on most of the day. Because the case is on the floor, dust builds up faster then normal. I clean the inside of my pc about every 4 months. Are there filters I canuse to help prevent or slow down the dust buildup inside the pc?
I know I jumped around some in my post. I am looking for information and ideal to help build that quiet pc.
Thanks

Please realize that MHZ dose not equal performance, a 2GHZ Core2 absolutely crushes a 3GHZ Pentium4.

As far as noise is concerned almost every machine I build is geared towards very low noise, and the case isn't that big of a factor (you could bring your Antec down to "very quiet" levels). What you want to look for; clean open air flow for the fans (no restrictive grills), bigger 92-120mm fans (since they move more CFM per dBA), (optional) soft mounts for the fans and hard drives to isolate noise caused by physical vibrations being transferred into the case (resonance). Filters with help reduce dust (my Lian Li PC-6070 has a filter over the only intake) but the best way to reduce dust build up is to use slower fans which is coincidently what you want for low noise.

Personally I like form as well as function so tend to lean towards Lian Li cases (and a select few others) (they are a big step up in terms of build quality then thin AL on the Lanboy), the fans get swapped out with Yate Loons. I would suggest you take a look at he PC-V1100, PC-101, PC-600, and PC-A05.

For the PSU look into the Seasonic S12. They use a very low noise high-quality Adda (ball bearing) fan with an excellent fan controller, are very efficient (less heat wasted converting AC to DC), among other attractive qualities.

Antec P180 case is a good start.
Seasonic power supplies are quiet.
A passively cooled video card, try XFX.
Change the northbridge fan or passively cool it.
Big heatsink and fan combo like the Typhoon for the CPU.
I even changed to 800 RPM fans for the case and CPU for further reduction in noise.

Good luck,
Mike

P.S. I'm the same as you, no OC, just want a quiet PC.
