Quiet Case

The P180 looks nice for me, but it doesn't have all the looks I want. What other cases are their that are really quiet and maybe have a side window so I can add some lights. I looked at the Lian-Li's and the one with the window is perfect, but it only has spots for 80mm fans 🙁.

Would maybe putting a 120mm exhaust and a 120mm intake on a fan controller with those rubber things that go between the fan and the case to make it less noisy. That with a Scythe Ninja fanless heatsink and stock cooling on a 6600GT and a case with a side window make a quiet computer? If it would, then I am looking for the case w/ side window. Galvonized, if I were to buy a case w/o a side window, then it would be the P180 not the P150.

If you are willing to spend some dough...

Get a mnpctech.com modified Tsunami:

...however, you can request the mod be done to a case with a window...

mnpctech will probably raise an eyebrow and make the same point Galvanized did, but they probably would accomodate your wishes. Putting in some quiet gear would help too, though I am no fan of "fanless" heatsinks, as most will not be up to the task. Personally, I think a Zalman CNPS9500 (or the yet-to-be-released CNPS9700) would be preferable and look nice (blue LED fan) in a case with a side window.

Stock cooling on a 6600GT? You probably can get alot quieter; get something like the Zalman VF700 (with LED, since you want a side window).

Just some ideas... take what you will.

Yea, I pretty much know how to make the PC quieter. The only missing piece is the case, and I'm not willing to spend $200 + on a case.

Kingwin SK523SW/SK523BKW-BC. Looks pretty good to begin with and should be able to be rigged for quiet w/o too much problem. ZZF seems to have the best bottom-line price on them right now - $62. for silver, $63. for black incl. Fedex ground shipping. Newegg/Chief Value has the best bottom line with 2-3 day ship.

PS. the -BC stands for the cathode color if diff from standard - blue is std on silver, red on black. So the sale boxes may not be down your alley re color combo.

I don't want to make another thread for a short question, so here it is. Are their any fan controllers that can take both 4 and 3 pin connectors? So I don't have to buy an adaptor......

I've not seen one but most fan controllers include at least one 4 > 3 pin adapter (at least the ones I've had here).

If looks are that important, just pick a case that looks good to you and mod it to your liking.

When I was shopping for a new case, I read a ton of reviews - concluding that there is no 'perfect' case. The mods needed for enhanced silencing and cooling are relatively simple internal mods which do not affect the looks of the case.

I did that - bought an I-Star Nitro AX, with full intent to mod it for both efficent cooling and quiet operation. I love it - now - but the case internals are considerably different than as-shipped.

Spend some time at silentpcreview for excellent articles, ideas and methods for silencing and apply them to your chosen case.

Hope this helps!

Check out this new Lian-Li case designed to be quiet.

It really looks great with hard drive heatsinks, rear exhaust baffle, seals on the front door, 3 isolated 120mm fans... It's a little too pricy for me, but If I had the cash I would by it.

My new build budget can't afford it, so I am going to use the new Cooler Master Mystique that has two 120mm fans and a front door. I should be able to get it very quiet.

I agree that the CM Mystique is a neat chassis but the window is optional as it is with most CM Al. cases. Silverstone has some nice Al. boxes too but most of them have optional windows if any. Places like http://www.sundialmicro.com may stock it with the window. Personally I can't think of anything more boring than a large square window - if I want a window, I'll mod it myself.
