quiet case fans?

does anyone know of some good quiet case fans will a blue led in them. I am after some new case fans for my pc, and am in need of some advice.
 
Yeah, the CM lit fans seem to be among the quietest. Generally if you want quality fans you don't go looking in the "red LED" district... 😉

im looking for both sizes, so a big one for at the back and some little ones for at the front/top. thx for the adive, i was going to be getting blue LED fans so thats no problem.
do the coolermaster fans have a molex conector or a 3 pin one? and are they contollable through software? like speedfan?
 
I was trying to make a pun on "red light district"... No LED fans are considered top quality. The plastic is hard so it's easy to crack the frame with the fan screws and the harder the material, the more efficient transfer of noise (generally).

Too bad you need some 80's because my Coolermaster 80mm led fan is horribly loud, I run mine at 1300 rpm's (the lowest setting my fan controller allows) and it just barely gets down to ambient levels. I love the coolermaster 120mm Led fans though so maybe that is why I am so disapointed with the 80mm.

Check these out for the quietest 120mm fans that I know of: Yate-Loon 120mm Blue LED
 
as i am going to be getting normal case fans instead of led ones now...can anyone suggest some good ones. im assuming collermaster would be the way to go but im checking anyway just to make sure. im after a quiet fan but still powerful enough with a good cfm. preferably with a 3pin fan connection, not a molex.
 
You should really head over to www.SilentPCReview.com for this and read one of their many articles.

But here ya go: 80mm: Panaflo 12L, Nexus, Scythe, and Artic Cooling isn't that bad.
For 120mm: Yate Loon, Nexus, Pabst, Antec Tri-Cool.

I just received my Noctua 120mm fans from NCIX and they are very quiet.

Forgot to mention it comes with the 3 pin connector you're looking for hard wired and an optional 3 pin to Molex converter.

depends on what you mean by "quiet".

I'd say that anything spinning below 500rpm is quiet, not 1500.


I no longer allow any fans running at over 1000 rpm in an of my PCs even under sustained 100% load.

I got a pair of sharkoon "silent eagle" (iirc) 80mm fans at 2000 rpm that are actually really quiet; they're softish fan blades and they've got some sort of golf-ball like dimples on them to help them be more aerodynamic instead of plain curved blades and reduce noise or something. Dunno if that's much more than marketing blabber but to be honest they really are quite quiet indeed. And they came with nifty little rubber bolts too. Overall I was pleasantly impressed.

my adda fans are spinning @ 1500rpm and all i hear when i put my ear within 1inch from it is the airflow through the mesh guard causing turbulence.

You know, somehow I seriously doubt that unless you are almost deaf.

Most quiet 120mm fans dont even break 1200RPM. Quiet 80mm fans just barely break 1500 RPM at full speed at which speed they are generally around 21-22 dba. Adda fans will be significantly worse than that seeing as Nexus and Panaflo were the 2 that managed those specs.

Actually, Adda has been doing well recently with their lowest-speed 80mm fans. The fan in the Antec NeoHE power supply (which SPCR deems to be silent) is an Adda fan. There's just not a whole lot of availability. SPCR has their 80mm fan roundup available, though they unfortunately cut the balls off of the entire project by only reviewing a sampling of the fans they were sent, rather than measuring them all and tabulating the results.
 
At stock none of them are inaudible from an inch, they are typically from 750-500 RPM and generally produce about 10 CFM of airflow (Based on 120mm fan).

The fact is, if your computer fan is spinning at 1500 it is never going to be inaudible at a meter away, and ABSOLUTELY never from an inch away.

its all about everyone's definition of "quiet"
you think a 500rpm fan is quiet, i think anything 1500rpm and under is quiet.
i dont sit next to my computer listening for fan noises, ambient noises/music/gaming usually covers up any 1500rpm fan even at low volume.
 
i think ill be going with the sharkoon silent eagle, reviews say that they are super silent and perform very well! but a question to iscsidude, are you able to control the fan speed, the review on bigbruin says that they couldnt control the speed. this doesnt bother me and id me happy to just leave them at their max speed (as their super silent so i wont hear them too much) and i wont have to bother with software to control them, but it would be nice to know if they are controlable(just incase i ever want to slow em down, but this wont stop me from buying them)

That's interesting. I control them on a Zalman Fan Controller with no problem. Even at 12v they are barely audible. While I can't bring them down to zero RPM (which I like by the way) I don't run them at anywhere near the lowest setting.

If they weren't controllable, I wonder how silent pc review was able to change the RPM/Voltage in their review:
