quiet but better HSF replacement for falconrock II?

HI

i like the almost silent running of the spire falconrock II i currently have on my 2100+ o/c to 166x12.
i plan to o/c the chip further in due course but would need a better hsf [current = 42-44 idle ; 48C load] to get to 200MHz...

what are the alternatives? ideally i want something that is quiet as well [case runs an enermax silent psu and 3xpanaflos]

hhhmmmm, no replies yet so i thought i'd update:
i understand that the heatsink on the falconrock is quite efficient, so changing the fan to one with a higher cfm [more than 28cfm] might be a way forward.

any quiet fans with higher cfm than the on-board fan?

If the numbers are right (per Newegg: 37.87CFM at 26.5 dBA), then it's a pretty good fan to begin with. Nothing stands out for me as a killer for it.

Another place to look for individual fans is www.svc.com . The CFM and noise specs are in plain view (at least per the manufacturer's info anyways), you may find something there.

If not, I'm afraid that there just isn't much left for you, not that I've ever seen anyways. The speeze coolers really do seem to be a great value for the money, I've used a few on machines I've made for friends and family, and been happy with noise levels too (or lack of). Unfortunately you have to pay a lot more to get a little better cooling. 'Tis the downside with overclocking, at least in my experience.

I'd be interested in seeing any other fans someone else knows of...

the numbers must be wrong: even speeze only rate it at 28cfm on their websites!
they do apparantly sell fans with the figures you list as case fans and i have email the local speeze office to ask if they can be used as hsfs [really to get his input on the matter]

likewise would welcome more views on the matter

Not sure if this will help, but I had a FRII on my stock XP2400 using AS5 and the temps were in the low 40's idle and about 45C full load. I switched to a SLK-800 with AS5 and the temps dropped about 5C average. Not sure if you can even get the 800 now, but as a comparison I've got $32 more invested in the 800 only to see a 5C drop. If there is anything in the middle cost-wise I wouldn't know what it would be and still give you what you are looking for. The Falcon Rock II is a great cooler, especially for the price. I've got one on my XP1800 and it stays in the 30's C. My thoughts are that you will need to jump to a pretty aggressive and costly cooler to see a serious drop in your temps. Just my.02 worth. Let us know what you find.

thanks. i will of course report back here if/when i get anywhere with this.
i agree that i dint think pumping in £20 or more for a "better" heatsink and fan would make too great an improvement hence i thought i might at least try for a similar few deg C improvment by replacing the fan....

noticed that even when i drop to stock speed my temps are upto 51c load so will also resteat FR2 with some AS5 and see if it helps any.

opinions on fans still welcome though!
