quiet as a Dell?

Ok, from reading the forums, this goal of mine may be difficult to achieve but I'm going to make the attempt. This is my setup:

Lian Li P601 Midtower case which comes with 3 80mm fans
PC Power and cooling Silencer Power supply
Abit mb, with a AMD 2k+ with retail heatsink and a panaflo 60mm (Model #FBA06A12H) fan
- the fan is suppose to be 32 dB @4200RPM producing 19.1 CFM
This is also a scsi system which I might change since the scsi drive is loud.

With this current setup...I consider this machine LOUD. My first mod will be to change out the 3 case fans and replace them with all Panaflo fans:
Panasonic Panaflo Axial Fan 80x80x25.5mm, Ball Bearing, DC 12V, 2.08W, 2950 RPM, 39.6 CFM, 32.0 dB-A Model: FBA08A12H <---- I'm guessing this one is quiet...

What else can I do to reduce the noise? I have a Dell sitting right next to it mainly for work use and sometimes I have to wonder if it's turned on.

Also question, does aluminum cases tend to be louder with it's thinner/lighter material?

The FBA08A12H is the high speed version, the one you may want to consider is the FBA08A12L.

Whoops, no wonder it seems quite loud 🙁
In anycase, I decided to go nuts on this and splurged on 3 Papst 80mm fans which produces about 12db-A (CFM is low but it would be interesting if the airflow would still be ok. I think I may switch my silencer PS to the enermax 330 or something to quiet that down some too.

(should have bought a dell I guess if I wanted super silent? 🙂 )

The PC Power and cooling Silencer Power supply is actually quieter than the enermax 330w. I have the 330w enermax and it whirls like a monster. It is by far the loudest component in my case. If you want a quieter power supply without replacing the fans inside, buy an antec true power supply. these are very very quiet. I'll probably buy one of these or replace the fans in my enermax.

I have the 430W Enermax (FC) Whisper PS and its pretty quiet. I like not so noisy computers myself and left SCSI behind for that reason. My Enermax makes less noise then the 4 Panaflo L1A's that are running in there (L1A's 21dbA each).

For the PSU you should consider the Antec TruePower 330 watts. People seem to love these because they are sooo quiet....

Truepower seems to be quiter that enermax, but Enermax seems to have healthier rails than true power.
