Quicktime error: "file not found"

When trying to open .mov files with Quicktime 6 or 5 (havnt tried any versions prior to 5) I get a "file not found" error. I have multiple hard drives in my system (2 ide, 1 scsi and another 2 ide in a raid configuration) and only get this error when I try playing files on my boot drive. If I copy the file to any other drive it plays just fine. My boot drive is formated NTFS 5.1 and the other drives are NTFS 5.0, FAT32, and NTFS 5.1 (compressed). The account I'm using is in the admin group, and Ive given full access to the file to "everyone." Im using Windows XP Pro SP1 with all windows updates installed. I have an abit vp6 with the latest bios and the latest 4in1 drivers and the miniport driver installed.

I know QT player for windows has a lot of issues but I thought id just post here and see if anyone happens to know the cause of this or has a fix. thanks

on a side note is there any other player out there for windows that will play .mov files? does apple have any serious plans for a QT 7?

I downloaded the quicktime alternative but I have the same problem. I get a "failed to render image" error or something similar
