Yeah, QT 6.5 registrations won't be accepted for 7.0 Pro.

And if you bought it (7 Pro) on the Mac, that key won't be accepted for the PC release either. So you'd need to shell out another $29.

It's a turd. Significantly worse performance than the Moonlight/Elecard decoder. The player itself is crap too but that's not a surprise. Not playing full-screen without purchasing is a surprise but I personally wouldn't use it regardless (as per previous being crap).

What's wrong with it? Seems to run fine on my P4 1.6, although I haven't tested it much. Anyways, I guess that's why it's a beta.

On my set, the initial 90 frames seem to have some drops. Will check it tonight with the Ctrl+i. Processors peak at 50% (all "4") and great results to 720p. Will try to find the 1080 tonight.

GTA - Don't know what your deal is, but it was a slow last night with the typical Apple poor feedback on loading. The bar is better, but willing to bet that integrated video will still suck with the darn Done and no percent complete.

Hopefully now that they are switching to Intel they can optimize their H.264 for SSE..

The performance of h.264, at least on my system is horrible. I can't get more then a few FPS on the 720p, and the 480p drops the occasional frame.. I'd be lucky to get more then a frame a second on 1080p.. But I can play WMV9 @ 1080p smoother than a babies bottom, and still only at 60% CPU. God bless ATI DXVA on my X800XL.

It would be interesting to compare a similar H.264 1080 clip not in the MOV format (MP4 or MKV?) since Apple's performance is so poor on Intel even compared to the Elecard (and does not even utilize all the CPU) and, as said, is disproportionately worse than WMV HD.

Anyhoo, a QuickTime Alternative beta with QT7 is available.
