I unlocked my old 1st-gen iPhone with Quickpwn no problem. It looks like Quickpwn apparently will unlock the 3G as well, although on some of the forums I'm seeing people reporting mixed results, with general phone stability being the major problem.

Has anyone unlocked a 2.1 3G iPhone with Quickpwn? What were your results? I don't want to brick this phone...I really like it.

EDIT: updated the message title. i was erroneously thinking "jailbreak" and "unlock" were synonymous...

I've been using the latest quickpwn ever since it's release (with iphone os 2.1). Wasn't too thrilled at first because I wanted to use winpwn, but ended up taking the chance and it's been working fine.

btw, by unlock i mean jailbreak.

My first gen iPhone is unlocked+jailbroken to 2.1 with QuickPwn and it's been solid as a rock. No crashes so far.

I wasn't clear in my first post. What I was trying to say is has anyone had success unlocking a 3G iPhone (2.1 firmware) with the latest version of Quickpwn?

I too had great success unlocking/jailbreaking my 1st get iPhone with Quickpwn, I was just wondering if it was as easy and stable to do on a 3G phone. I've got a link to the forum I described, I just need to find it...gimme a sec here

I don't believe you can unlock an iPhone 3G yet. You can jailbreak it however, though I don't know if Quickpwn works, I just have a 2G.

EDIT: last I read they were just breaking down the baseband, last week I think. I'm not 100% up to date on 3G unlock.

I jailbroke my 3G iPhone with quickpwn. Pork is correct, you can't unlock it.

Update:

I jailbroke my G3 2.1 iPhone last night. I've only put cycorder on it so far (extremely cool little app BTW).

No stability issues to speak of. Coolbeans. :)

So I tried to jailbreak my iphone, and all went well. However, now I have no mobile network connection. Did I miss something?

edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. I needed to go a little further with the restore in order to bring back my settings before doing the jailbreak. Was a little scary for a bit there.
