BOB1 - "hay bob, did you see the game last night?"
BOB2 - "No, bob, Sex."
Bob1 - "Oh."

Jim - "Hay, bob, did you notice the new TPS report covers?"
BOB2 - "No, Jim, Sex"
Jim - "Oh."

Gets me out of all types of things at the office.

It's good advice if you stay at home all day and/or carry around strips of grilled chicken's breast and little baggies of brown rice in your back pocket.

I'm having trouble with one of my quads (iv had a tear before) so I cant run much or walk too far.

So you reckon I just get weights and work, and a high protien diet to boot ?

I also watch the cals on my food and try to keep to about 1000 a day but I had to females who work that thats no good for me.

Starving yourself is not a good way to lose weight. Not only is it bad for you, but once you stop doing it, your body will start generating fat again as fast as it can.

The original question was about 'speeding up the metabolism' not simply losing weight. The only thing I've heard that makes me think of that is that if you starve your body it gets into store up for the winter mode, so just keep your body nourished constantly and maybe it won't store the excess fat as much. But keep in mind that some animals are just fat, hippos, pics, rodents, etc.

the best way to increase your metabolism is to add muscle mass, but that's a long term process.

Your real problem will be inactivity. About all you can do in the short term is to watch your caloric intake like a hawk (that doesn't mean a 1000 cal diet) and do whatever activity you can. I'd do weights just to burn some calories, upper body and whatever you can manage for the lower body. Swim. Start walking as soon as your knee is up to it.

Eat small meals every 3 hours
Try Swimming
Do weights at the gym as long as you don't strain your knee in any way (no squats, dead lifts, etc)
Drink Green Tea and Red Tea
Do all that and you should have a super fast metabolism :)

High protoien diet and weights ? seems thats all I can do at the moment. Swimming hurts my knee.
