Hopefully this appeals to at least a few people. At Staples (our favorite)...

Quicken Deluxe 2002 $59.95
Norton Antivirus 2001 $29.94
VirusScan V5.0 $19.94

Quicken Upgrade Rebate -$20.00
Norton "Quicken Combo" Rebate -$30.00
VirusScan Rebate -$20.00
Your favorite $20 off $100 Staples Coupon $-20.00

Total = $26.12 (I have 7% sales tax)

If you use Quicken, this is a great deal - the software never really drops in price later, and Norton AntiVirus is the best.

They are also including some other free software with the Quicken purchase, but the only other item that seemed any goos was Pocket Quicken for Palm, and I have a real PDA (read: iPAQ). But if you are a Palm user, then the Palm software is also free after rebate when you buy Quicken.

Anyway, here's the link to the Quicken Deal page at Stapes.

Cool deal!

I usually upgrade every other year.
Recently (like since 98 I think:eek:) I've been able to find enough cool deals though
to upgrade every year.

Last year there were come good bundles with TurboTax though.

actually - I did a variation of this deal at a Staples B&M:

Staples Quicken Suite $99.99 (79.99 after $20 Rebate)
MyCheckWriter $19.99 (Free after instant Refebate)
CheckWriter Blanks $14.99 (Free after Instant Rebate)
Norton Antivirus $29.94 (Free After Rebate)
Pocket Quicken $29.94 (Free after Rebate)
Used $30 off 150 Coupon

Paid $137.62 (with Tax) and I will have $80 bucks in Rebates comming for a net of $57.62.

You can make this deal better by getting Macafee Office for $50 (Free After Rebate) and using the $40 off $200 coupon for a net under $50

fyi, I recall reading that NAV 2002 is being released soon. Not that it matters much, but some people like to have the very latest versions of software.

I'll personally wait for Quicken 2002 to show up at http://www.directdeals.com. ;)

Manly:

By buying Norton AV 2001 for $30 - you get: one $30 Rebate in combo with Quicken
one $10 Upgrade Rebate
$30 to put you over the top for the $30 off $150 Staples coupon
and a retail boxed product for future upgrade deals.

Seems OK to me

true, but the only point I made was that NAV 2002 is soon to be released (you can pre-order it from buy.com now).

Also, directdeals.com sells the OEM version of Quicken 2001 SUITE for pennies on the dollar. By buying the Suite product, you're eligible for free Turbotax Deluxe + State (when released). The only thing you lose out on is the Quicken $20 upgrade rebate.

Got yer point on the NAV 2002.

But - Quicken 2001 Suite - gives you TurboTax Deluxe and State for tax year 2000.

For those of us who Buy TTax and Quicken every year and want the latest - this isn't a bad deal. Assuming all rebates come thru, you are only out $40 plus tax.

I know; that's why I originally said I'd wait for directdeals.com to sell Quicken Suite 2002 for a much better deal, IMHO.
