there is no built-in digital audio connector. In order to make a digital audio connection, you must purchase either the advanced A/V pack or the hi definition A/V pack, which each provide an optical digital output.

It's built in to the Xbox, but you need an adapter to utilize the 5.1 DD. The AV pack is only like $16 anyway. :)

so you need a av pack for 5.1 dolby digital, and the remote control to play dvds?? or are they one and the same?

no, the DVD kit contains a USB infrared sensor and a remote control only

the A/V pack(either Advanced or High Definition) provides a connection for optical digital audio connection, but the optical cable itself is not included (just the connector for optical cable) <-- this is true for the advanced pack... i am not sure if the hi-def includes optical cable or not... I presume it doesn't

halo is a great game, but there are other great games out there too ;)

But yes the XBox is worth $300.00

I have a question though, who actually bought a memory card for their box? I don't find the need for it with the Hard drive other than to take your save games to a friends house and none of my friends have a Xbox...

being able to have portable save games IS the purpose of the mem card.. having a hard drive is great but its good that they also have mem cards for this purpose. :)

also peace of mind I guess, to have your save game on mem card in case your baby brother crawls to the xbox and pulls it off the shelf busting the hard drive and all your save games :D
