TYAN S2099ANR TRINITY I845E LAN RAID AUDIO ATX - for $130
or
ABit BD7II - for $107
or
EPoX EP-4G4A - for $101
or
EPoX EP-4BEAR - for $117

Either of these will suit my needs but which is the better board? I already have Pc2100 mem.

I am also looking for an Intel chipset board with 6 pci slots, RAID, and on-board lan that takes ddr2100 memory and usb 2.0 support but I cant seem to find a board with all these specs. Anyone know of such a beast?

I'm using the Epox 4G4A+. It has 6 PCI slots, Onboard ATA133 RAID, 6 USB 2.0 ports, and onboard LAN. :)

Has anyone solved the problems with the HighPoint controller on the 4G4A+ causing the board to lock up on boot?

I don't use my Highpoint controller ATM, but I haven't heard of that before....

How about the Gigabyte GA-8IEXP. It's $130 at Newegg with $4 shipping. It has everythig you could want. USB 2.0, Firewire, Intel LAN, Creative Audio (2ch. but it sounds better than the other 6ch. chips, and you really need a card anyways), Promise Raid, and , many other nice features like Livebios. The only real drawback is the Promise Raid stripe size if you want to do raid 0.

See the specs here.

Check the long 4G4A+ thread in Motherboards. There were several people with the problem. I've seen it posted elsewhere too.
