Earlier today several of us at work heard the weekend forecast.

It called for a 30% chance of rain on Saturday and also a 30% chance of rain on Sunday.

Some of us said good...... it probably won't rain this weekend. Others said not good......it probably WILL rain this weekend. (the majority said it wouldn't).

Will it probably rain here this weekend according to that forecast?

From what I remember, a rain forecast is the probability of rain happening on a day with certain weather conditions, based on if it has rained on days in the past with the same weather conditions.

Like, if there are 100 days in the past with the same temp, humidity, cloud cover, etc, and 30 of those days it rained, that means 0.3 probability, or 30% chance.

So basically there's an ok chance :)

Probability of dry both days =0.7*0.7=0.49
Probability of rain on at least 1 day =1-0.49=51% chance of rain at weekend.

edited, can't type probability.
