quick wap on cell phone question

I have a quick question that maybe someone can answer. I have a motorola T720 with verizon service and setup to use waptunnel.com Works fine for wap websites. I have a password protected wap page (apache .htaccess) that I"d like to logon to but no matter what I'm getting a 401 and I haven't been able to pass in a username/pass nor is it prompting me for one. Suggestions?

*scratches head* I've never used WAP before, but if this is an Apache issue maybe I can help out? Perhaps you haven't set up an .htpasswd page in conjuction with .htaccess yet?

Sorry Soy, I don't remember how familar you are with Apache. 🙂

Way more than I'd like to be 😉 I can view and authenticate to the page in opera, I just can't get the phone to ask for credentials or come up with a way to slip them to it.

Its a network service monitor (nagios/netsaint) and I want to be able to peek in on the go and check serivces, issue commands, etc. Waptunnel.com doesn't support https which is a pretty big drag as it is but I'll deal with that, but thats as flexible as I'm willing to be on security 🙂

as far as I know verizon will only let you go to certain sites...they have a name for them...no way to bypass it that I know of either...can you go to any wap sites? try going to www.esato.com and see if you get a 404 there...if you do you know what the prob is

Actually if you set your wap settings on the phone to use the waptunnel.com info (see site) you can surf any wap site with only standard air time charges. I can browse the yahoo wap site, etc but who cares about those, I wanna' see my network 😀

hmm...not sure why then...maybe an authentication problem?

I'm quite sure of it, its a 401 error 😉 I guess I could call customer service and ask them if there is a way to provide it in the url or to the phone....

what is the authentication setting on your phone?? it can be set to on off or something else...i always turn mine off just to speed up the net...but some sites you have to have it on...do you know how to get at those?
