Quick voltage question

I want to get my 2400+ perfectly stable at 2.5 ghrz and I believe I can reach that at 2.00volts. I have a thermaltake volcano 12 extreme so cooling is not a problem at all :p IN fact, I never go above 116*F

So is 2.00 volts fine for my cpu? Will it not explode?

For air cooling a mobile, I'm not comfortable giving more than 1.85V on a 947u.

that's really high for air cooling. i agree with ronnie. even if it is stable, 2.0 volts will kill ur cpu's life span.

Likely not. Not on air cooling atleast.

My informed opinion is that it depends on what heat sink you have. I run my mobile 1.90v with no problems whatsoever. Just watch the temperatures and use a 80-120mm fan with a thermal sensor under the CPU to control the rpms and cool it before it gets too hot since they get hot underneath before you actually see the temperature rise.

i ran my xp-m 2500+ at 2.0v for gaming, 2.15v for benching (although it got a bit warm at 2.15v, ie ~48C iirc. for word processing etc. i only ran it at 1.1v.
if you can stay below 50C, 2.0v should be ok. (50C = 112F)
of course, i am talking about load temperatures here, and this was on near-water grade cooling, as the SP-97 with a 92mm Tornado on it is the best air cooling available for K7.

I thought that the max operating voltage spec for 0.13u Athlons was 1.85v, as per AMD. I really wouldn't be comfortable going much (or any) higher myself. If you don't care about frying your chip though, feel free to experiment, I guess. :p (I once ran a 0.18u 2.4V K6-2 @ 3.1V. I think I could have fried eggs on the heatsink at that point.)

I have the following:

AMD AthlonXP mobile 2400+(Thermaltake Volcano 12 extreme HSF)
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe(bios 1012)
Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL(2-2-2-5)
BFG GeForce6800 Ultra OC
Ultra X-Connect 500W PSU

Why you need to go to 2 volts on your Vcore I'm not sure. I have my chip overclocked(24 hour Prime95 stable) to just under 2.6 ghz: 215 FSB x 12 multiplier at only 1.675 Vcore. This could be a difference in the chips, but I can't imagine THAT much of a difference. What is your FSB and multiplier?

1.85volt would be my max for long term running, that said I would prefer to stay under 1.80V

Yes it could easily be just down to core quality ,you have a very good 1 you lucky git! ;),can I have it?:D
My XPM2400 isn't stable at 2.2Ghz with 1.75v:(

Personally I don't like going over 1.75v but then I sometimes keep cpu's for about 2yrs ,+ I like to sell them on with some life left;).I wouldn't go over 1.85v really
