what do you mean? like playing a video file on media player or something?

no like reversing it for an editing program. I filmed a car driving in reverse and I want it to be going forward in my movie.

Your editor must support it in time-warp. Most of the basic/consumer editors do not. MS Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio do not. Pinnacle Liquid Edition does (a pro/advanced consumer tool). You could check some of the DV pages and find a tool that will apply it to an AVI.

Edit - look at some of the editing tools in dvdrhelp.com. You might get a hit there.
