Have some new hardware on the way:
EVGA 750i FTW mobo
XFX 9800GTX Black
Corsair HX1000w
2 x 2gb Corsair Dominator PC8500 DDR2 (1066mhz)
For the moment I am keeping my C2D E6600 CPU as I cant afford a new processor, but will eventually drop in a quad core and maybe an extra 9800 GTX when the games demand it
So its a good base I think, but the last time I messed with overclocking was with a 333mhx Pentium 2
Things like pcie and fsb dividers didnt exist back then! I dont plan to OC yet, but I have got memory that is waaaaaaayyyyyyy over the top for the FSB of the CPU (266x9), but it would be nice to get maximum benefit from the RAM.... so I just want to verify this is what I should set for running the CPU at stock (i only have stock cooling too) but maximizing the benefit of the RAM's speed.
CPU: Stock 266x9
CPU Voltage: Auto/default/whatever
RAM Divider: 1:2 which should give me 266x2x2=1066mhz
RAM voltage: Whatever is specified as default on the pack
RAM Timings: default 5-5-5-15
PCIE Freq: Lock it to 100mhz?
PCI Freq: Lock it to 33.33 mhz?
The last two are because if everything runs stable, then I will be tempted to OC the CPU seeing as how it will be replaced in a few months, only by a little, but not much, and wont want my PCIe/PCI creeping up right?
Apologies for the basic questions, but I took these settings from the excellent sticky on this board, and just want to make sure this is right.
