Lets say I download an abandonware/freeware game to keep this legit.

What to do to actually install the game after its transfered? That sounds bad.. but its the only way i know how to word it. All the files seem to be the same time..

Sorry for the horribly noobish questions.. :D

Did you just download the .torrent file or the file that the torrent referred to? If you download the file that the torrent referred to, then it'll depend on the file extension of what you downloaded. Often what you'll get is some kind of disk image like an ISO file. You can use something like daemon tools to mount that, or you can burn it to CD/DVD first.

What about a movie? Im currently downloading an SVCD movie and its a .rar file. It seems to be broken up into chapters like a DVD would and each is a .rar. Is there some way I can combine them all into like 1 movie or will I have to open each one to view it?

If you have WinRAR or similar then select all the files you want to extract and right click then specify the folder to which you want to extract the files. Done :)

Sorry I should have said that I have winrar and know what to do. My question is will I have to click on each individual chapter to watch the whole movie or can I have them put into one whole movie on a disc. DVD players do play SVCD's so Im guessing all I have to do is burn them on a disc if they fit and throw it in my DVD player?

Obviously you don't. Winrar can break up a single large file into many smaller files. When you try to decompress the first one it will ask if you want to decompress all the rest with it.

Either double click on the one that has the .rar extension, or double click any one. You'll see the archive contents, then extract it. Each .r0* file is a part of one big file, and is treated as such.

He said each is a .rar. In that case, I right click them all and extract it into a single directory.

typically movies are not distributed in that way. If the files were like chapter1.rar, chapter2.rar, etc, selecting them all and extracting would will work as rh71 said. I did not register Winrar, so if there was 50 files I would just get 50 nag windows. Maybe I dont download enough legit movies, but I never really seen them distributed by individual chapter.

The folder it makes is CD1 and CD2 with CD2 most likely being a special features disc but in CD1 there are .rar's starting from 01 to 56. 21 more hours and I'll see what happens, hopefully its not just some guy with a video camera in the theatres but the actual movie. RE Apocalypse BTW.

if its an svcd then the movie is both cd1 and cd2. there isn't even a dvd release of apocalypse. you have to use winrar to unrar those part files. then you'll get a bin and cue file. either burn the image to a disc or mount the image on your hard drive with like daemon tools or alcohol 120%. lastly, if you have the maven release then its excellent quality.

This most likely is a cam. I have seen the DVD screener version which was 4Gbs, and the quality was fairly average. Anyways, in CD1 and CD2 there will be numbered r01 to r56, and possibly one that is just .rar. You can just open the .rar one, and you'll see the files there. Then just drag them out and winrar will get the necessary parts from the other .r* files.

well #1 I can't believe this is being allowed to be discussed here. I don't recall any movies that are legally distributed over BT in compressed .rar format in 2 CDs.

#2 Seriously... is it THAT hard to figure out? Use some common sense. Unrar, look at conents of the dir(s) created. Open the files with a SVCD player program (WinDVD etc) and your fine...

Can't people think for themselves anymore?

I can make a legal movie right now of someone picking their butt for two hours, use Xvid and split it over 2 CDs and make a torrent right now. You have a criminal mind if you think everything is illegal. :p
