Quick review: Hart's War (no spoilers)

Just so you know, I never give away major plot points in my reviews, so rest easy on that account. That said, here's the byline.

Settings is mid-1940s, Germany. Col. William McNamara (Bruce Willis) is highest-ranking American officer in a rather civil and accomodating German POW camp. McNamara, taken out of the war in the early going (as far as America's involvement went), silently plots and waits for any opportunity to strike back at the enemy...I had better leave it at that.

There's a fair number of plot twists in there, but nothing mind-numbingly shocking. Second, if you were thinking this was a war movie, as in war = action, you're going to be surprised - there's little to no gunplay in the movie whatsoever. If you like courtroom drama...well, there's a fair degree of surprise to the movie but nothing exceptional whatsoever. In between wondering "what, REALLY, is honour", the clashes of personalities within the American encampment and the courtroom antics, you come away with...very little.

Action = Little. (2 minutes or less)
Nudity = None. 🙁
Plot = Threadbare.
Acting = Nothing to write home about.

The bottom line? It's not a movie you'll walk out of the theatre retching from, but it's one you'll forget having watched within two weeks. Just another movie that I should have waited to come to video.

Official sully rating (between -4 and 12): 4.

between-4 and 12? Where'd that come from?

My dial goes to 11... 😛

I didnt enjoy this movie.
I expected blood and guts and ended up watching a piece of fluff. (I kept waiting for the cast of Hogans Heroes to appear)
(Just MHO, others may love it.)
