I just bought a Corsair CMX512-3200C2PT 512MB DDR400 PC3200 64Mx64 184 DIMM Cas2 Memory w/Silver Heat Spreader for my pc that I am working on getting, and am now wondering if it will even work on the board that I want. I want to get the Epox 8rda board as that is what everyone is talking about beiing good for overclocking. Oh, I am getting a XP2100 chip also.

Will this ram work on the board that I want, or will I have to get a diffrent one?

well you wont get any more than 266 mhz outa that RAM so you would not notice the difference between that and pc-2100. why did you get taht?(yes it will work with your board)

I got it because everyone was saying that 3200 was better then 2700 which was better then 2100. I will overclock the xp2100 chip, and because of that most people said to get the best ram possible.

Should I call and cancle the order for that ram and get a less expensive ram type?

I wouldn't cancel the order. Like you said, if you are o/c at least the RAM won't be the limiting factor in your o/c. Plus it'll run at CAS 2 up to 200 MHz FSB.

So I am better off with this chip even though I can not run it at its full potential? Is there a board out there that is good for over clocking that can use it. I just do not want to waste money on ram and not have it being used is all.

i wouldn't reccomend anything faster than pc2700; once you get up to 200fsb and such, your pci/agp will be WAAAAAY out of spec.

Ok, based on what everyone here is telling me I cancled the order for the 3200 chip. What type of ram will be good for over clocking that is 2700? I know that Corsair is good stuff, and crucial is suppost to be also. My brother in law bought some Samsung ram and he says that it is ok, but then again he does not over clock.

This is true if your PCI/AGP are not locked. I don't know if the 8RDA has a lock or not, but the next OCing board I buy must have an lock on the speed of those slots or the cards could end up limiting the OC.

As for the RAM, you mentioned a few good ones there. I'd also add Muskin to that list. Samsung seems to be very popular and really get the fastest RAM you can afford. PC2700 is nicely priced right now and the faster you go, it gets expensive fast. It'd be a shame to get a killer board and killer CPU but have the RAM hold it back.

Corsair XMS is in my opinion some of the best ram arount. Get some good pc2700 or up and you will not be disopinted.
