when installing a HSF with arctic silver compound do i take off thermal tape on HSF or leave it??? i have heard that its better to take off thermal tape. thanks for the help

take it off completely & prepare both mating surfaces ie heatsink & cpu surface by cleaning with rubbing alcohol!
apply a thin coat to just the cpu (don't use your bare finger pulp to spread) & attach the hsf! 🙂
 
When you apply the Artic Silver 2 only use a little bit, approx. size of a "bb" to the cpu core and the spread evenly with a credit card.
