Leaving in 15 minutes to help a spa add 2 computers to their current 1 computer 'network'.
The one computer they have is currently running an appointment scheduler program that they want to be shared on the other 2 computers.

This program is the most ghetto looking thing I've ever seen. The current owner recently bought the business from previous owner so probably doesn't have any of the discs for their software.

It was set up as a server + 2 clients previously.. they bought 2 new client computers because the old ones where dieing. (motherboard or processor died in one... think the hard drive is about to die in the other)

What is the standard way to set something like this up? Just enable shareing of the folder that the software is installed in? (it would be running multiple instances of the same program though.. would updating the schedule simultaniously on different computers possibly overwrite each other or cause problems this way?) Or should the software be installed on each computer? (maybe some kind of built-in feature..)

I think I'm over my head here. I told the owner that it would be more of a trial and error sort of thing.. so he understands.

Any quick short answers would be appreciated because I'm leaving in 5 minutes!!

Thanks!

Entirely depends on the application in question. Some are used by sharing the executable and files. Some are actually database driven. Just depends on how that app was written.

That's what I figured. Trying to find an installation manual on their website but don't seem to see anything. Well, time to go.

Thanks though.

I got there, they already had the software installed on the new computers. All I had to do was wire them up.. then figure out why the router wasn't issueing ip addresses. DHCP was disabled, so I left it that way and manually entered address and was good to go. The software automatically set themselves up to talk to the server.
