Just bought 2600K CPU, etc. I had read the stock fan is OK so I didn't buy a better one. I am not sure that is going to be the case, but I am going to install the stock fan anyway for now until I get a better one.

Question? Do you grease the stock fan? There appears to be three stripes of material on the bottom of the fan that will sit between the fan and the CPU, but the material doesn't appear to be thin like grease, but almost like elmer's glue that has set.

Thanks... Got the MB / Memory / CPU / PS in now. Going for the fan, GPU, connect the PS to the MB then do a POST. Nervous still after all these years. First PC I put together was a Z80 setup from a kit in 1980 or so...
