Can anyone tell me why dvd-rom/cdrw combo drives are comparable in price to cd-dvdrw drives? It seems to me that I'm about to buy a POS optical and I don't want to do that!

i think all the technology is pretty cheap for reading and writing (non-DL) cds and dvds.

so i think they are all at the floor of the price range. what are you looking to buy? if you post the device we can give specific opinions
