I hope you know what i mean.. example.. in 2k my nicks ip was 192.168.0.1 I use to share 56k like this. But now i have cable

I need to specify my ip to the cliant PC's browser.

i tryed setting the cliants bowser to the default gateway.. and the subnet mask my regular IP,

but i still can locate my NIcs IP adress

To get your ip address in win2k go to start -> run -> type in cmd. In the command windows, type "ipconfig/all" without quotes. This will bring up a list of all installed networking devices and properties for each one. Is this what you are asking?

yeah.. thanks thats what i wanted to know kinda.. I guess i dont have a protocol that lists my NIcs IP adress.

I rember a time when i had to assighn it a adress like 192.168.0.1 and so on .

looks like a proxy setup is not gonna work for XP.

thanks anyways

yeah thats it... hehe how do i assighn a IP..

i just bought a router anyways 🙂 all my internet sharing wow's are over .

To assign an IP in win2k Right-Click on My Network Places and go to Properties. Again, Right-Click on the network connection you want to edit and select Properties. Select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click on properties. This screen should look familiar now🙂

thanks bigpete

I know what you mean now. Since you seem to know alot 🙂 ho far can i go with a cat5 cable ?

Awwww crap(you got me), I THINK its a 100 meters, 300 and some odd feet between terminations, might want to search google or something as I am not 100% positive on this. Anyway, you should be able to run it across almost any house with no problem.
