Correct. The GR-1 is a different platform. There was a V10 in the Shelby concept from the Detroit auto show in 2004 (that nobody seemed to like). I'm not sure if that same V10 will go into the GR-1.

It was front page on Motor Trend a few months ago... I remember a price tag upwards of 100k, so it its not a supercar, its got the sticker of one.

did I mention that the '05 stang won Grand-Am another race this past weekend and handed the IRS-based BMW's and Porsche's their asses again?

And how does the Rustang fair at the 24 hour of LeMan's?

IIRC...the Ford Cobra's whipped Ferrari's asses back in the late 60's :D

Our conversation will just end up going back and forth, then lead us to sH7t on each other.....

BTW- i'd take the Ferrari over any "supercar" Ford anyday of the week...LOL!

Me too if your paying for it

I can't dis Ferrari (I'm half-Italian :D )....just have a Ford budget

BTW- You never answered my question on how them Rustang's performed at Lemans..
They are undefeated.....'cause they probably never raced there

Have they? The Ford GT40 is the only car I ever heard about going to LeMan's The only other American one I know of is the Saleen S7.
I thought the Viper had multiple years of winning the 24 hours at LeMan's.

Isn't that the same concept card that MasterAndCommander linked to in the second post of this thread over 2 months ago?

Probably got their asses handed to them by Jap cars...along with the Euros.

I seriously don't get the love affair that everyone on this forum has with Eurotrashmobiles...I mean, BMW, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz have HORRIBLE reliability!

Goes back all the way to world war two...the germans made flashy, big tanks, but they sucked the big bucket against the behemoth, crudely constructed beasts of the Russians or the smaller, less armored, yet way, way more versatile and reliable American tanks.

Ferdinand Porsche? He designed the Panther and Tiger tanks. In a quote from Kelly's Heroes, "It's a piece of junk!" His cars still are pieces of junk up to this day.

Just because a car is FAST, doesn't mean it's not reliable. Look at Skylines, RX7 and RX8s, Supras, NSX...brutally fast cars that will ACTUALLY KEEP WORKING after a few months on the road.

I don't know if you saw that episode of TopGear where Clarkson bought the used Porsche for 2000 bucks. It was like ten years old, and it died after 20 minutes on the road. Whereas people drive RX-7's from 1993 and before, which are sometimes TWIN turboed, putting quite a bit of stress on the engine, and they still drive reliably!

RX7 reliable LOL

Remember the GT40? Its back.

Probably got their asses handed to them by Jap cars...along with the Euros.

The German tanks were by far the best of the war. Faster than their russian and american counterparts, more effective armor, better (better = bigger, more accurate, faster firing) cannons.

The Shermans used by the americans were no match. I've read accounts by people involved who claim that it was borderline criminal to send US troops in Shermans up against Panzer divisions. Russian tanks weren't a match for the panzers and tigers, either. Make no mistake, anyone that tells you the Sherman was superior to its german counterparts is spreading propaganda.

Ignore him, he thinks all cars except Euros are trash and can't seem to contribute anything to any car thread. NSF4 get in here to shed some light upon this thread :D

Thanks for contributing....next....

Sorry for the double post,

How was your first post contributing anything? OP asked a simple question, and you responded with obvious flamebait and you got what you wanted. Then someone points out an accomplishment from Ford clearly showing they've done something right. Oh no, Ford might have done something right for a change, but my apparent hate for American Cars will not let me admit it so I'll combat its success by saying it hasnt won a race at Lemans, It wasn't even entered in Lemans so your argument is worthless. The Mustang is an awesome car that races great on a track that beat out BMW's and Porsches which you seem to love so much. You say you hate american cars and that German and European cars are far superior, but you seem to love to troll American Car threads. If you don't like the damn cars, you don't have to share it with everyone, just keep it to your damn self and go beat off to some posters of the new M3 or Porsche 996. Don't talk about contributing to a thread when you haven't contributed one bit to any thread on these forums.

The German tanks were the best in the war as stated above, the problem with them was the Germans didn't change the oil. They wanted to be in Russia before winter, but ran two months late. In cold weather the tanks needed different oil which the Germans didn't supply, so the engines siezed up.

For Le Mans for overall victory America has 4 or wins 66-69 ford gt-40, japan has one 1991-mazda787B the rest are european cars.

IMO american cars will never have the passion or innovation of international cars. Japan will always have its build quality while europe will have its exotics and luxury cars. No way can the three of these ever have each others' attributes. No jap car will ever be exotic, no german car will ever have japanese build quality/consistency and no euro/jap will ever have the american muscle.

That's 2 out of 3 for the year...and came in 2nd and 3rd in the one they didn't win.

Kind of sounds like the mid 60s all over again.
