Quick question regarding the Hercules 3D Prophet 4500

Hi, just wanted to know if you get borders when using the TV Output on these cards, as I'm considering purchasing one.

I used to have an nvidia card before with a tv out; it had these 2 inch black borders when it was connected to the TV. And yes, I'm aware of TV-Tool, but I dont like the way that it cuts off the edges.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have a videologic vividxs kyro 2 with tv out and the tv quality is excellent and it's right to the edges of the tv screen, no borders for me! 🙂

Sounds great, do u know if that card has the same TV chipset as the hercules one though? Ive never seen cards other than this one with the kyro 2 chipset in the UK.

There's not much difference between the hercules and videologic kyro 2's so I'm pretty sure the tv out will be just as good on the hercules as the videologic version.

Using pricewatch.co.uk I've found the following:-

http://www.simply.co.uk videologic 32mb kyro 2 with tv out OEM for £84.59 (free p&p)
http://www.simply.co.uk videologic 32mb kyro 2 with tv out RETAIL for £91.64 (free p&p)
http://www.komplett.co.uk Hercules 64mb Kyro2 with Tv-Out RETAIL £117.11 (£3.47 p&p)

I've never ordered from komplett but I have ordered from simply and they are really quick and reliable!

Thanks a lot for the info, I normally buy hardware from a computer markets; but that 32mb version sounds tempting @ £84 🙂

Stick to the videologic drivers if you want to use tv out, the latest reference drivers have a problem where the desktop gamma settings are sometimes changed when you switch to tv out. What that means is when you switch back to using your monitor the desktop is very dark, it's easily fixed by reinstalling the drivers but it's annoying. However that problem doesn't exist in the official videologic drivers so I recommend you use them instead!

BTW:I've fixed my problem with the reference drivers, it was my tv card causing the problem not my kyro 2!
