Quick question on RAM

I got a mobo that supports dual channel... am i better off getting 2x256mb or 1 stick of 512mb? and does it matter ALL that much?! just for basic home pc.... thank you!

get a 512mb stick
that way later you can get a another 512mb for dual channel
whereass 2x256 is useless for upgrades.

are you using an intel or amd platform?

if you're using intel, i highly recommend dual channel

i also recommend it if you're using AMD with onboard video

Onboard video is a goodpoint there Amol... but if he's running p4 and asking about cheaping out on ram... that would be sad.
