I got in on that outrageous BFG 6800 OC / HL2 bundle deal, and the card was working very well till this afternoon, when the computer shut off in the middle of 3dmark2k3 all of a sudden. the card was overclocked to 422/822, but there was no sign of artifacting so i know i didnt push it that far. the computer works fine without the video card and the card failed to work in other computers as well. with the video card in the AGP slot, the computer wouldnt turn on. the power light comes on for like 0.5 sec then it goes off with a very short beep. Upon careful inspection, one of the fans was split in half in the middle. i have not a slightest idea how it happened, just my luck i guess.. right now it is superglued back to one piece.
Here is the problem : BFG is highly regarded for their excellent warranty system, but I am going home on saturday to hand this card to my friend some 7000-8000 miles away from here. the best i could do with BFG warranty is to ask him to wait a month till i get back to school after the winter break and send it to him at an outrageous airmail shipping cost. as much as i would love to find out what BFG warranty is all about, there is not enough time to get the card back before my departure.
Does bestbuy let you return/exchange opened product if you have everything intact including the receipt?
