Unreal Tournament 2004 is a hell of a lot of fun, in my opinion. I would strongly suggest playing against computer opponents first, at least until you learn the basics of your gametype of choice. The primary reason for this is that there are a lot of assholes in UT2k4's online community. Sad, but true. Learn the basics of the game, even if you don't know anything else, and you'll be alright.

As to longevity... there are mods out there, including total conversion ones, so I think it should last a good long while. It depends, obviously, on what gamtype you're interested in playing. But yeah, it's definitely worth checking out.

If you just jump online and ask people questions like "How do I shoot?" the odds are pretty good that you'll be cursed and flamed for no good reason.

I can't comment as to the Battlefield games.

battlefield games have incredible longevity, due to the fact that they have a heavy support from the mod industry so every month you get a new mod or an updated mod giving new content, e.g desert combat, point of existence, operation peacekeeper.

bf1942 however is past its sell by date now.

Is there a reason you're being such an asshole?

i liked the original call of duty, realistic and historically interesting, although some scenes/plots/maps were pretty much exactly out of war movies like enemy at the gates/ saving private ryan.

longetivity is subpar i barely felt like finishing the game

Call of Duty was a hell of a lot of fun, and very exciting, but very short. Once you get into it, this game will be over pretty much before you even realize it.

To its credit though, it does have a nifty little animation at the closing credits.

I don't know about the expansion though; I never got an opportunity to play it (although I'm thinking about giving it a spin).

I loved COD and UO, I've played them through several times. Did the same with the MOHAA series. Played it over and over. I like shooting thing. I beleive COD and MOHAA have better longevity than the UT series in single player/mod mode. After playing any on the UT games I never replayed them, I only occasionally go online with UT.

I have played UT since it came out, and every new version of UT comes with owesome new items. UT2K4 is one of the best on-line games out there (as far as FPS). UT2K4 always updates with new patches, new items in the game (vehicles, guns, etc).
Call Of Duty is good, but as others said, once U completed, there is not much more u can do, so if U pick games that get updated all the time (UT2K4, Q3, Castle Wolf, etc), U will always have something new with every update.
And its true, there are many (U KNOW WHAT) people when U play on-line, so careful when U choose a server to play on-line. Try to keep close to big clans and servers that not allow bad language.

Hope this helps U.

You have 22 posts on these forums. Guess what? That makes it pretty easy to go read ALL of them.

You have to your credit:

Posts calling people stupid: 3
Posts complaining about 'wrong forum': 3
Hot deals posts slagging on a particular deal: 2
Posts that can best be described as absolute thread crap: 9

There's a few that are a *little* better:

Posts flaming spammers: 2
Posts complaining about rule breaking: 2

And one somewhat helpful, if rather rude suggestion:

Good luck getting any kind of support when that thing takes a dump.

One of the reasons people build their own computers is to learn the system inside out and to be able to troubleshoot instead of winding up with an expensive paperweight which yours will eventually become.

You have never responded to a reply to one of your posts: 22 posts, 22 threads. That's quite a career.

i'll add my two cents: i've been playing COD (online) for a year and a half, and i still love it. it is more "realistic" than UT2004 IMO. i feel like i spray and pray playing UT, whereas COD requires more precision. again, just my opinion.

Depending on how you play, that can be a pretty accurate assessment. There are some weapons that work best just holding the button down. CoD, on the other hand, rewards accuracy a lot more due to the kickback on weapons and things of that nature.
