I'm trying to understand what kind of servers are in my company's Texas datacenter. There is a Sun E6800/24 and a HP 9000/800/48. What I'm confused about is the numeric description, what does the /24 indicate? Is that the number of CPUs in the machine? Same for the HP, what does the /800/48 indicate?

1) General Hardware
2) WTF does this topic have to do with Unix? Isn't this a hardware question?

Thanks, that's what I thought.

What about EMC Frames, anyone know what that is? I'm guessing its some type of rack setup.

When they read off those strings of identifiers your job is to look impressed while nodding knowingly.
