Hi Anandtech, I have an extremely quick question. I got the itch to upgrade the core of my 3 yr old comp, and have been trying to do some research. I am getting the 2.4 dual core processor (1033fsb).

Do I need DDR2 800 or 667? Its a reasonable leap up, I'm not doing overclocking, I'm just wondering what ram I need to run at factory settings. Thank you very much, happy tax return season to you all.

So that's the memory I need for my 6600? I'm going to order right now, with the stock heatsink, do you think it's worth it to jump up to 667 or 800? Maybe I might oc it just a bit, is this a good cpu to oc?

I used to be incredibly into this stuff 3 yrs ago when I last bought my comp, but stopped reading up on it because my comp was fine and I didnt need to be frothing over new parts

2GB of decent DDR2-667 is around $100. If you can find DDR2-533 for much cheaper and you're not going to overclock, go with it. If you plan to overclock either now or sometime in the future, just get the 667 as that should be all you'll need.
At least this way if you decide to OC in the future, you won't have to replace the RAM :)

I'm bummed now, I tried placing the order with newegg's 90 day no pay thing (I tried the 6 month one too), but I wasn't approved because I have no credit history.
