Quick Question before I Buy

First the power supply will be powering this system:

Phenom II 720 Unlocked and slightly OCed
Biostar 880g
4gb Ripjaws 1333 DDR3
9800gt oced
1 HDD/DVD Burner
1-3 120MM Fans

Finally limited my decision to these 2:

The thermaltake is now 10$ cheaper with a 10$ rebate. Only big problem people seem to have is the 2 sata ports on 1 line which doesnt matter much to me. Just need this last bit of help before I purchase. If the thermaltake will do me well then I want to save that 10$.

I'd go with the Corsair. It's not a Seasonic platform (it's Channel Well) but is 80 Plus certified, and is approved by JonnyGuru.

The Thermaltake unit does look like a good seller with decent reviews on Newegg though. I'm just partial to Corsair between the two.

You could get the CX500 V2 for just $5 more after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139027 . Has 2 PCIe connectors for a future GPU upgrade.

Some TT PSUs are known to be bad, but given the award and positive user reviews I'm inclined to believe this one is solid. Personally I'd pick the CX500 with longevity in mind

Do NOT get that Thermaltake! Unless my eyes are deceiving me that's a 115v - 230v switch on the back -> dated design.

Agreed.

The Thermaltake is HEC built. Probably not in the "this power supply killed my system" category, but not something I'd willingly put in one of my computers.

ive had three of those TT psu's, one lasted 5+ years everyday use just fine. other I used for about 2 years before selling it used so don't know how that one is living these days. one burnt up in a few months.

they aren't bad and it would probably do the job just fine. if it was me I'd probably pony up the extra $ if possible but if things are tight im sure the TT will handle it.

Whoa, I didn't see a $20 rebate for the Corsair PSU earlier. Well, if that's the case... I'd say go for the Corsair, unless OP doesn't like MIRs.

+1 for the Corsair and, in my experience, they are one of the best for getting rebates done easily and quickly.

This will be a probably be a stupid question but:

My current Antec Basiq PSU has an 80mm fan that blows out the back of the case. The Corsair has a 120mm that would blow right into the top of the case (my PSU is mounted at the top)......unless I mounted it upside down in which case it would blow down into the case and onto the mobo, CPU, VC, etc.

Does that even matter? Or is this Corsair designed for those cases that have a space on the top of the case to ven the air out from the PSU.

Those large 120mm fans in PSUs serve as intake fans - they suck air into the PSU, not out. But yes, you might have to mount the PSU upside-down so the air vent isn't blocked.
