Quick question about winsock

I've read that many Internet connectivity problems are caused by a corrupted winsock (either by malware or something else).

When resetting it, does that typically disable browser add-ons (and thus require that they be re-installed)?

Resetting the Winsock using netsh winsock reset catalog command removes all the third-party LSPs and restores Winsock to factory default setting. Existing programs that use their own LSPs, need to be reinstalled again. Example.. Google Desktop Search.

That's what I thought. Is there any way to know, before resetting the winsock, which third party programs are using their own LSPs? How would I determine that?

I don't know about the new Lavasoft "AdAware Antivirus" free version, but the old Lavasoft "AdAware" had a feature that "immunized" the TCP/IP stack, and listed all the third-party LSPs. There's oldversion.com and oldapps.com where you download AdAware.
