Quick question about "turn off monitor"

when the "turn off monitor" is selected, and your monitor is turned off, does this essentially 'disable' the video card. In other words, will the video card fan turn off and the card stop running completly?

LOL...good point. I was at work and thinking about setting something up and thought someone might know off the top of their head, but you're right. I can be patient and try tonight.

Ok. That is what happens. Does anyone know of a way to actually shut down the video card while leaving the rest of the computer running?

I'm pretty sure the video card also has different power modes (D0/D3), but I'm not sure you can activate the sleep one (D3) with anything other than "standby" mode. Those are the power states listed on my Leadtek GeForce 6800 card.
