quick question about the xp refresh rate thing

1. what exactly is the bug with the refresh rate in xp?

2. in the refresh rate under video properties, if it says it is 85hz and everything seems to be working right (with no fix/patch), would the refresh rate fix still be needed?

Because it bumps down to 60Hrz in 3d games

to really see if you are in 85 Hz in games, bring up your monitor's on-screen controls and let it tell you what refresh you are running.

What if your monitor doesn't have On screen controls? Is there any other way to tell what your real refresh is?

I can't think of any, except that many of us can easily tell the difference between 60 Hz and 85+ Hz refresh rate, esp. after an hour or more of usage. 60 Hz might appear a little flickery, and your eyes will feel fatigued from looking at it.
