I'm upgrading with the following parts (going to buy tonight)

Asus A7V8X-X
Xp1800+ T-Bred
512MB PC3200 RAM

What do you all think of this combo?

Also, is it OK to swap out a mobo with windows XP? Will it run ok if I swap out a mobo without reformatting?
 
get a 1700+ DLT3C and an epox 8rda+. what brand is the memory? u might wanna get corsair pc2700LL if ur not overclocking.
 
I am not sure about xp... I know windows 2000 wouldn't allow this... wouldn't even boot... and since the stabilty of XP is heavily based on 2000 I would be inclined to believe that it wouldnt' work.... it would be reformat time....
 
Looks good, although I would try and go for a 2500 barton CPU instead if possible.

Definiately reinstall after mobo swap
 
I always reformat between mobo swaps. I even reformatted when I RMA'd my mobo. Windows didn't quite work right even with the same model mobo.
