I just got a Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm drive. When I go into fdisk to format it, fdisk only sees 10GB. My motherboard detects it and sees the correct size. What can I do to fix this? Thanks
Perhaps you are using an old version of fdisk which won't support the size of your HD. Try using such software as Partition Magic. Maybe that will help.
Get a Windows 98 start-up floppy and when you fdisk it should ask you you something like do you want support for large disk. Say yes and you should be good to go.
Do you have an ata133 card? or does your mobo support ata 133? I believe you may need one of those. My 40 gigger did it to me and when i upgraded to a bigger newer system it supported it so no problems here. Good luck
