Quick question about HTT

OK, I realize HTT and FS are not the same, but related....

But I'm also reading that HTT should not typically break 1000. Is there a reason for this? I know I'll be able to change the divider on most boards, but what should I look for?

Should I look for a setting that will run HTT x4 stable? Or highest FSB possible and just go with x3?

HTT and HT are two things you are getting confused, at least in what you have written, since you called two different things HTT.

HTT is what is called FSB on all other boards.

HT = HT multiplier times HTT = the thing that will not go much above 1000 MHz

The real key is your CPU speed and RAM speed, whatever combination of HTT and HT multiplier get you to your best CPU and RAM speeds at the highest HT is the best. You will not come close to saturating the HT at 3x or 4x when overclocking a single processor. HT was designed with multiple processors in mind, and the bandwidths these will deal with for getting information from one processor to another. No single CPU board is going to come close to the limits of the HT, and as such, it's value is of little significance to the normal single CPU overclocker.

It's not so much a matter of putting it over 1000 MHz will hinder performance. It's more like most boards will not run stable with it too much over 1000 MHz, so it is best to keep it under that so it doesn't become a limit to your CPU and RAM performance.
